The purpose of the Facilities Stewardship Ministry is to have an attractive, functional, and eye appealing building and landscape reflective of our love for Christ; that would be inviting to visitors and the community; ready to support Church activities and events, and yet be maintance friendly at a reasonable expense.
Hamilton Mill Christian Church’s Facilities Stewardship Team offers a variety of
ways to serve the Kingdom. To volunteer for any of the teams discussed below, please contact Cliff at cliff.harris2@yahoo.com or by cell phone 770- 815-6187 or face to face anytime you see him. Immediate needs are for a grounds crew team leader as well as grounds crew team members, a lock-up team member, and weekly pick-up cleaning volunteers.
GROUNDS
Grounds Teams typically meet on their scheduled Saturday morning for a couple hours to mow, edge, trim, and blow island areas, drives, front lawn, roadway, and side bank. There currently are six teams lead by Terry Hahn, Mark Satterfield, Cliff Harris, Steve Bryant, Brian Peace, and Bill Conner. A seventh weekday team, lead by Cliff, is responsible for mowing the recreation field, top of bank between the Church and the neighbors house, and maintaining the kudzu buffer zone and retention pond.
Equipment is owned and maintained by the Church: Zero turn mower, professional wide cut walk behind mower, two push mowers, string trimmers with additional attachments (edger’s, brush cutters), and blowers as well as fuel for each is available.
BUILDING
Cleaning of the building is accomplished with eight monthly cleaning teams lead by the HMCC leadership. These teams spend app. 3 hours “deep cleaning” (sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, window cleaning, etc.) in the building on the third Saturday of each month. Weekly “pickup” cleaning, accomplished by a sign up list, is done the other three weeks of the month. Takes about an hour to pick up paper, empty trash cans, and clean/refill bathroom supplies.
The Lock-up Team secures the building each Sunday after the worship service. 12 men take a month each year to lock the doors and turn off the lights. Requires app. 10 minutes each Sunday 1 month a year. You do not have to be the last one out!!!!
Worship Center Set-up Teams make sure the multi-purpose room is set up for worship on Sunday mornings. The building is used for different purposes almost weekly that requires a different arrangement of chairs and tables. This requires making sure it is ready for worship each Sunday morning. Amount of activity varies with use of the building.
Upward Basketball Chair Teams are responsible for replacing the chairs for worship after the Upward Basketball games on Saturday afternoons various Saturdays December to March. Takes app. 1 hour three times Dec. to March.
GoToTeam tackles on-going maintenance items at HMCC as needed -- we’d love to know your specialty so that we can plug you into the appropriate task. Maintenance items range from changing light bulbs, changing furnace filters, electricians, plummers, small engine repair, carpet care, painting, etc. This is a great opportunity to serve for those that have busy schedules and cannot commit routinely. We’d love to have you on our handy man/woman list!
